Freshwater West, Pembrokeshire

Freshwater West

A beautiful beach and a favourite for surfers as its amongst some of the best surfing beaches in the world. Bathing however is not safe and the warning red flags are permanently displayed to warn people; there are tidal rips beneath the surface and a few people have been drowned trying to swim here.

Filming
Harry Potter and Robin Hood

Film producers have realised the impact that the wild and dramatic scenery of Pembrokeshire can have for a film set. In May, the beach was a location for the last film production for Harry Potter. In June Russell Crowe and Cate Blanchett were filming Robin Hood with a cast of 800, including extras and the film crew. Around 130 horses were also taking part in the huge battle re-enactment for this new epic.
